CentralSteel.com can upload Excel spreadsheets or CSV (comma separated value) files. See the instructions below for creating an Excel file or CSV file for upload.
To create an Excel file for upload,
- Click here to download an Excel Template.
- Enter the part information into the appropriate columns.
- Save the file.
To create a CSV (comma separated value) file for upload,
- Open a spreadsheet software application, such as Excel, Access, etc.
- Enter each line item on a single row in the following format (see example below).
- The desired quantity should be placed in the first column
- The quantity unit of measure in the second column
- The part number in the third
- Optionally, the pricing unit of measure in the fourth
- Optionally, comment in the fifth
- Go to File > Save As and select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv) in the Save as type: drop down at the bottom of the Save As window. When the spreadsheet is saved as a CSV (comma delimited) file, it will automatically place the commas into the file where necessary.
When using any other method to create your CSV file, make sure to follow the same format. Each of the sections should be separated by a single comma as shown below.
5,EACH,2024FB1-1/4X2-1/2,EACH,comment 1
3,FT,1018FB1-1/2X10XC,FT,comment 2
200,LBS,CRSH16X48X120,LBS,comment 3
- Finally, make sure the file has a ".csv" suffix.
You are now be ready to upload the file.
